Poonam is an Analyst with Mission Throttle’s Advisory Services practice, supporting a variety of engagements in the impact sector through research, analysis and strategy development. Client engagements range in sector, and include workforce development, environmental sustainability, community advocacy, youth programming and senior services. Poonam was most recently involved in developing strategies to enhance the long-term sustainability of a Detroit-based mission-driven organization that addresses racism, poverty and injustice through education and empowerment offerings.

Prior to joining Mission Throttle, she was chosen to participate in Challenge Detroit, a yearlong revitalization fellowship in the city of Detroit. As a 2016-2017 Fellow, Poonam employed the design-thinking methodology to facilitate the needs of Detroit-based mission-driven organizations, including MACC Development, Belle Isle Conservancy, and Beaumont Family Medicine. Poonam continued the partnership with Beaumont as her capstone project, developing art installations with the help of Detroit citizens that encourage children and families to adopt fitness behaviors. Through the momentum of the project, she was invited to speak on a panel and present her findings at the Art and Health Symposium hosted by the Detroit Institute of the Arts. Also as part of Challenge Detroit, Poonam worked with Ford Motor Company. She was a member of the Corporate STEAM Department, leading communications strategy for the workforce planning initiative.

Poonam graduated Summa cum laude from The George Washington University with a B.S. in Science, Culture, and Communications. Interested in biology and anthropology, she created her own major within the Columbian School of Arts and Sciences, and defended an honors thesis analyzing the health implications of modern dating technology. Poonam’s passions are interdisciplinary, rooted in the science and communications of sustainability. She enjoys exercising her analytical skills and love for storytelling in the arena of impact investing.
